  55. PURPOSE
  56.     KingFisher is a tool specifically designed to maintain and
  57.     search one or more databases for software.  The program permits
  58.     manual browsing, but offers a powerful expression parser through
  59.     which you can explain to KingFisher exactly what you are looking
  60.     for.
  61.  
  62.     The layout of database records for display is programmable, as
  63.     is the format used for printing and that for writing records to
  64.     a file.  This permits complete customization, separately for
  65.     each database.
  66.  
  67.     KingFisher uses a resizable GadTools window on the default
  68.     public screen or on a custom screen, offers the choice of both
  69.     smart and simple refresh windows, and supports proportional
  70.     fonts (including scalable fonts) of nearly any size.

  72.     KingFisher supports more than one database, and databases that
  73.     are larger than a single disk volume, which are spread over any
  74.     number of disks to be mounted on request.
  75.  
  76.     Using advanced Client-Server Technology, KingFisher supports
  77.     multiple simultaneous users with a minimum of memory overhead
  78.     (as little as 30K) for each user (an ARexx-based interface
  79.     named RexxFisher provides a BBS with the means to serve many
  80.     databases to many users!)  KingFisher's multi-user support in
  81.     NO WAY hinders its value in a single-user environment!

  83.     KingFisher is localized.  Catalogs are supplied for Dansk,
  84.     Deutsch, Espanol, Nederlands, Suomi, and Svenska.  More are
  85.     expected as translators are found (hint, hint!)

  87.     Fully integrated AmigaGuide help provides context sensitive
  88.     assistance and information on menu items and gadgets under
  89.     the mouse pointer.  Hundreds of links cross-reference over
  90.     150K of documentation.

  92.     KingFisher comes with a complete, read-to-use database of
  93.     descriptions for Fred's "Fish Disks" 1-1000!  A new command,
  94.     "Install database..." helps adding existing databases from
  95.     CD-ROM.

  97. REQUIREMENTS
  98.     With Fish Disk Database (1.5MB), approximately 2.2MB of harddisk
  99.     space is needed.  The program requires about 300K of memory to
  100.     run, depending on the size of the database index files and some
  101.     other factors.  Kickstart V37 (2.04) is required; V38 (2.1) is
  102.     required for localization.

  104. COMPATIBILITY
  105.     Tested with 68000 through 68040 CPUs, V37, V38, V39, and V40
  106.     system software, Picasso II graphics board, EGS Spectrum, and
  107.     CyberGraphics (on Picasso.)  Enforcer and Mungwall used during
  108.     testing.

  111.     Shareware registration fee is $20(US) or DM30.  A registration
  112.     site in Germany is available for European users.
